In June of 1968, Nancy Owens led a group that took over the lease of a defunct used furniture store in Berkeley called the Freight and Salvage. Nancy tacked on the words Coffee House to the name and re-opened its doors to the public as a community music organization. Around that same time, Bob Dylan was celebrating his 27th birthday and working on a series of three Nashville studio albums that would have as strong an impact on country music as his earlier work had on the folk, singer-songwriter, and rock genres. Tonight, one week after Dylan's 61st birthday and on the eve of the Freight's 34th anniversary month, Freight performers celebrate the past and look forward to the future with an evening of Bob Dylan songs. Tonight's all-star cast includes David Maloney, Keystone Crossing, Houston Jones, Jim Carter, the Urban Acoustic Dude, and Dylan cover quartet, the Four Questions. |
