dynamic traditional bluegrass ensemble

After wowing a packed house last February as banjo wizard Tony Trischka's red hot back-up band, Due West returns for an evening all their own, showcasing one of the hottest contemporary bluegrass bands in the country. Founded by guitarist Jim Nunally (John Reischman and the Jaybirds, Dix Bruce and Jim Nunally) and mandolin player Erik Thomas over a decade ago, Due West was one of the most popular California bands of the early to mid-1990's, serving as a training ground for dobro player Rob Ickes and banjo players Tony Furtado and Alison Brown. Today, Due West presents its strongest line-up ever with Nunally and Thomas joined by banjo player Bill Evans (Bluegrass Intentions, Peter Rowan), the phenomenal swing and bluegrass fiddler Chad Clouse (Scott Nygaard Band, April Cope) and jazz bassist Cindy Brown (Wake The Dead, Mimi Fox Trio). Look for a mix of traditional and contemporary bluegrass with a hint of jazz and new acoustic music, featuring many original compositions and generous helpings from Bill's album, Bill Evans Plays Banjo, currently riding high on the Bluegrass Unlimited charts. Every show this band has played since coming together last fall has brought standing ovations ö- come out and see why in this special Mother's Day night performance.
