A five man rock band without instruments, the House Jacks -- Bert Bacco, Deke Sharon, Garth Kravits, Wes Carroll, and Austin Willacy -- practice a "no-holds barred" style of a cappella singing that obliterates traditional preconceptions about the limits of the human voice as they run the gamut from tender love ballads to dazzling mile-a-minute funk -- complete with mind-blowing vocal percussion and whammy-bar guitar sounding riffs. The jax originally got to know each other on the collegiate a cappella circuit of the late-1980s -- Deke and Bert began singing together as undergraduates at Tufts University. Since their days of trying out new material at Freight open mics, th group has gone on to complete several successful world tours and have released three albums, most recently, Drive, a collection of live performances including selections recorded at our Addison Street abode. |
