The imagery and emotion of Lucy Kaplansky's original lyrics combine with the power and texture of her sumptuous voice to create an illuminating evening of songs that work their way deep into the heart. Fusing alternative country, roots rock, and folk music with rare style and intelligencenot to mention a truly charming stage presenceLucy presents her thoughtful songs about the human condition with warmth and power. Raised in Chicago, Lucy began her professional life as a clinical psychologist; fortunately for us, she switched courses a decade ago, setting out on the path of full-time singer-songwriterhood. Lucy has released four acclaimed solo albums, including Ten Year Night which received the AFIM (Association For Independent Music) Award for Best Pop Album in 1999 and the recent Every Single Day (Red House), collaborated with luminaries like Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin, and toured in the US and Europe on her own and with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell as the "folk supergroup" Cry Cry Cry.
ERIKA LUCKETT Opener Erika Luckett brings a smoky voice wrapped around original tunes with intelligent lyrics and worldly rhythms. A founding member of the popular Bay Area world jazz ensemble, Wild Mango, in the early '90s, Erika subsequently set out alone with her guitar into the world of singer-songwriters, where she quickly established herself by winning the Northern California Songwriters Association "Song of the Year" award and recording several great albums like My Little Crime, which just won Acoustic Guitar Magazine's 2002 award for Best Independent Release of the Year. |
