Join Welsh triple harp virtuoso Robin Huw Bowen, singer and guitarist Heather Jones, and actress Eiry Palfrey in a Welsh Christmas celebration, featuring a reading of Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas in Wales. Drawing on Wales' rich vein of beautiful poetry, songs, and gorgeous music, the performance will showcase stories and carols, as well as Robin's intricate, fiery harp playing. With his talent for rekindling the soul of the musical repertoire he learned from his country's old harp masters, Robin ranks among Welsh traditional music's most important figures. He has toured internationally, as a member of the Welsh folk groups Mabsant, Cusan Tan, and Crasdant, as well as solo, and has recorded a number of albums like the 1999 solo work Hen Aelwyd ("Old Hearth"), as well as gaining honors like the 2000 Machynlleth Festival's Glyndwr Award for "Outstanding Contribution to the Arts in Wales" and the British Academy of Film and Television Cymru Award (equivalent to an American Oscar) for best original film score in 2001. A fellow former member of Mabsant, actress Eiry Palfrey has worked in theater, films, and as a TV news anchor, and is currently a producer for Welsh television. Another Welsh TV regular, Heather Jones has also performed with fiddler Mike Lease in the band Hen Deg. |
