American roots music virtuosos

One of the true living masters of American home-grown music, Geoff makes traditional gospel, folk, and blues styles his own in an unusual process he calls "Muldaurizing," wrapping his polished guitar playing and riveting, otherworldly voice around unusually crafted interpretations of classic, often obscure, American material as well as his own unique compositions. Geoff began his career in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the 60s, recording and touring with the legendary Jim Kweskin Jug Band, then joined Paul Butterfield, applying his soulful voice and masterful guitar to Chicago blues. He has recorded 10 solo albums, most recently Secret Handshake and Password (HighTone). Kweskin band-mate, Fritz Richmond will join Geoff on jug and washtub bass. Opening for Geoff (they might even sit in with him for a few numbers) are Eric and Suzy Thompson, two of the most versatile stars in the Bay Area folk music pantheon. Key members of many of the area's best known folk groups past and present, including the Blue Flame String Band, Graineog Ceilidh Band, the California Cajun Orchestra, the Aux Cajunals, and the Bluegrass Intentions, flatpicking maestro Eric and fiddler extraordinaire Suzy play just about anything, from bluegrass to Cajun to Irish traditional to Greek rembetikaand they do it with fire, verve, and finesse.
