leading bluegrass band from Kentucky

Bob Paisley & the Southern Grass offer distinctive, soulful singing, hot, hard-driving instrumental playing, and a repertoire rooted in bluegrass tradition. Bob, a recipient of the Pioneer Award from the Country Music Association, comes from the bluegrass heartland-he was born in 1930 in Ashe County, North Carolina. During the 1950s and 1960s, Bob played in bands in the Deep South, before moving to southeastern Pennsylvania where he formed the Southern Mountain Boys with the late Ted Lundy. Fronting the Southern Grass since 1983, Bob shares the lead and tenor singing as well as the guitar parts with his son, Dan, while his other son, Mike plays bass and sings bass harmonies. Also on hand are Ted Lundy's two sons, T. J. and Bobby, award-winning instrumentalists who play fiddle and banjo, respectively, plus mandolinist, Bobby Eldreth.
