Jenna Mammina is a singer of great imagination and artistry. Derk Richardson of the Bay Guardian writes, "she is equally at home with contemporary pop material and jazz standards. Evincing a fundamental purity of tone and communicating a sincere belief in what she sings, she sustains that delicate balance of pop music and fine art." That balance, Jenna believes, is a reflection of the diverse ethnic, cultural, and creative atmosphere in which she grew up, in St. Joseph, Michigan: "I've always been surrounded by music, art, and people from all kinds of backgrounds. My mother is Native American and Spanish, and my father is Italian." Moving to the Bay Area in the mid-1980s, she became immersed in both the jazz scene and the women's music community, released her first album, Under the Influence, and launched a touring career that has taken her to cabarets and theatres throughout the country. Tonight, Jenna and her band celebrate the release of her newest album, Meant to Be.
