Steve Tilston is a songwriter's songwriter and nothing short of a cultural treasure. Steve writes perhaps the most tuneful, singable songs to come out of England in recent decades. Two of his best-known, "The Slip Jigs and Reels" and "Another Place to Hide," are classics from his years touring with Maggie Boyle and have been covered repeatedly. Steve's rich voice and wide palette of emotions simply carries audiences away. Sharing the bill is Danny Carnahan, taking a break from fronting the hit Celtic-rock crossover band, Wake the Dead. At his insightful best, Danny has been called "California's answer to Richard Thompson." His award-winning '90s recordings struck a careful balance between allegory and naked pain. These days his songs are happier, but retain his signature sharp edge as he accompanies himself on guitar and octave mandolin. Steve and Danny each play solo sets before joining together on some of their favorite numbers. |
