Faun Fables performs otherworldly folk music steeped in theatre, tradition, and experimentation. Featuring the compelling singer-songwriter Dawn McCarthy, in collaboration with art-rock veteran Nils Frykdahl (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Idiot Flesh), Faun Fables draws on spontaneous forms of folk theatre, with an eclectic ensemble of guitars, wind instruments, percussion, autoharp, skits, dances, costumes and voices. Tonight Faun Fables celebrates a homecoming from a national tour supporting the new album, Mother Twilight (Chaosophy). San Francisco native, Noe Venable is a young storyteller with a vibrant imagination. She sings in a language of vivid pictures and emotion, exploring with curiosity and compassion the rich world of the lost and forgotten. Noe's lonely acoustic guitar, along with Alan Lin's classically trained violin and Todd Sickafoose's innovative bass, punctuate Noe's vivid imagery with inventive musical textures. The trio's live performance is featured on Noe's recent album, Down Easy (Petridish). |
