inspired innovations in traditional music

One of the great musical minds of the Bay Area, violinist Kaila Flexer, known for her own brand of Eastern European folk music has assembled a new combination of musical instruments and personalities: saxophonist George Brooks, Moldovan virtuoso accordionist Nikolai Prisakar, Bob Lipton on tuba, and Jason Lewis on percussion. With a group like this you can bet that the music will be twisting and turning in and out of continents, time zones, centuries and genres. Special guest, including dancer Evie Ladin, join with the Fieldharmonik, which will be performing new repertoire, including "Ashen Skies," a piece written for the events of September 11. With Kaila taking a year off from producing Klezmer Mania! this will be her only Bay Area performance during the Hanukah season.
